Best AI Receptionist for Small and Boutique Hotels (2026): 7 Options Compared

For a small hotel that wants the work done for it, BonsAI Luxury is my pick, because it builds the AI receptionist and keeps its answers current for you. If your own team will run the software, Akia and Canary also answer the phone, and HiJiffy publishes its prices.
I'm Iskander Nekkaz - Le Roux, the founder of BonsAI Luxury, an automation engineer and a Stanford alum.
It's 11 p.m., the desk is empty, and a guest wants to know if the pool villa is free on the 14th. An AI receptionist answers that question for you, by message or by phone. I compared seven options for a small or boutique hotel on one test, using only what each vendor says on its own website.
What counts as an AI receptionist?
An AI receptionist is software that answers a hotel's guests on its own, day or night, and passes anything it can't answer to a person. Some answer only by message, on WhatsApp, website chat or email. Others also pick up the phone. Vendors use the same name for both, so the table below shows which is which.
How did I rank them?
I gave each option one question. Who keeps it working after launch? An option ranks higher when the vendor does more of that work itself. It ranks lower when the hotel's own team writes the answers and watches the inbox.
I didn't score features or price, and I didn't test the products myself. Every fact below comes from the vendor's own pages, read on 19 October 2026. Check them again before you buy, because plans change.

1. BonsAI Luxury
Best for: a small hotel with nobody free to run a guest messaging tool.
BonsAI Luxury is a done-for-you service, not software your team runs. It builds an AI receptionist around one property's own facts and voice. The receptionist can answer guests on WhatsApp, website chat, email and the phone. It answers only from facts the property has approved and passes everything else to a person. The property approves the launch. After that, BonsAI reads the conversations and fixes weak answers. Builds start from USD 1,500, after a free audit. BonsAI works worldwide, with a focus on Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean.
The catch. It's a new company with no published client results yet. Its phone agent is newer than its chat agent. It runs in English and French only. It doesn't check live room availability yet, so it takes the request and passes it to staff. It doesn't pull OTA messages into one inbox.
2. Quinta (formerly Quicktext)
Best for: a hotel that wants someone at the vendor keeping its answers current.
Quinta's AI assistant, Velma, answers in 38 languages on live chat, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram and WeChat. Its pricing page lists a data service from $599 a month, with a dedicated consultant assigned to the hotel. Quinta also lists a voice assistant on Google and Alexa. I didn't find phone answering on the pages I read.
3. HiJiffy
Best for: a hotel that wants a published monthly price and will run the tool itself.
HiJiffy publishes its prices. Plans start at €99 a month, based on the number of rooms, plus a €99 setup fee for each five properties. That first plan covers website chat. The Pro plan, from €159 a month, adds social apps and a generative AI chatbot in 132 languages. Email starts on Pro. WhatsApp and SMS come with Premium, from €319 a month. HiJiffy offers setup and support help, but on the pages I read, your team sets the answers.
4. Akia
Best for: a hotel that wants the AI to answer the phone and take payment on the call.
Akia's top plan, Max, adds AI Voice with call transfers and call summaries. Its voice page says the AI picks up on the first ring, books rooms and takes payment during the call. It also says it reads reservations from PMSs such as Mews, Cloudbeds, StayNTouch, Guesty and Hostaway. Every plan says to talk to sales.
5. Canary Technologies
Best for: a hotel or group that wants phone, messaging and check-in from one vendor.
Canary's AI Voice says it handles every call to the hotel. Its pricing page lists a unified inbox across SMS, WhatsApp, LINE and WeChat. AI message replies start on its Advanced plan, and an AI website chat that answers around the clock comes with Pro. Prices are custom quotes, and Canary lists a dedicated onboarding and training lead. Canary says more than 20,000 hotels in over 125 countries use it.
6. Duve
Best for: a hotel that wants guest messaging inside a guest app with online check-in.
Duve's Pro plan adds a unified inbox, SMS and WhatsApp messages and OTA messaging to its guest app and online check-in. Prices aren't shown on the page. Tailored onboarding is listed as included with additional charges. I didn't find AI phone answering on that page.
7. Asksuite
Best for: a hotel with a reservations team that wants AI to cover the hours it's closed.
Asksuite has an official WhatsApp integration. Reservation agents reply during business hours, and its AI assistant answers when they're off. Its Sophia AI reservation assistant answers messages and quotes around the clock. I found no price on its site, and its pricing address returned a "page not found" error on 19 October 2026.
Who should pick something else?
If you need the phone answered, start with Akia or Canary. Akia also takes payment on the call. If your front desk will work one shared inbox all day, OTA messages included, Canary, Akia or Duve fit better than BonsAI. If a published monthly price matters most, look at HiJiffy.
An AI receptionist is only as good as the answers someone keeps up to date.
What should you ask before you buy?
Whatever you pick, ask the vendor these questions:
- Who writes and updates the answers after launch?
- What happens when the AI doesn't know an answer at 11 p.m.?
- Does it answer the phone, or only messages?
- Which booking system does it read, and can it see live availability?
- What does WhatsApp itself charge on top? Meta charges per delivered template message, with some exceptions.
For how an agent decides when to hand a guest to staff, see AI guest messaging for hotels. For a ranking built around WhatsApp only, see AI agents for hotel WhatsApp.
