Canary vs HiJiffy for a Small Hotel (2026): Which One Fits?

A blossoming bonsai tree on a grassy point above a still lake at dawn

For a small hotel that wants to see the price first and mostly needs messages answered, HiJiffy fits better, because it publishes its plans from €99 a month. If you also want AI phone answering, mobile check-in and LINE or WeChat in one inbox, Canary fits better, but you'll need a quote.

Canary Technologies and HiJiffy come up again and again when hotels ask about AI guest messaging. Both are software your team runs. They differ on price, on channels and on the phone. Here's how they compare for a hotel with fewer than 50 rooms.

Canary and HiJiffy side by side

This is my comparison. I compare on one test: who keeps it working after launch. Check each vendor's own site.

What does Canary do better?

Canary covers more of the guest's stay. Its pricing page starts with mobile check-in and a unified inbox across SMS, WhatsApp, LINE and WeChat. Advanced adds AI message replies, upsells, digital tipping and smart checkout. Pro adds an AI website chat that answers around the clock. Its AI Voice says it handles every call to the hotel, trained for your property and brand. Canary says more than 20,000 hotels in over 125 countries use it.

What does HiJiffy do better?

HiJiffy publishes its prices, so you can budget before a sales call. Plans start at €99 a month, based on the number of rooms. The Pro plan, from €159 a month, adds a generative AI chatbot in 132 languages, social apps, email and an account manager. Premium, from €319 a month, adds WhatsApp and SMS. Its home page says its AI handles up to 90% of guest conversations.

Which one should a small hotel pick?

Picture a 20-room hotel with two people on the desk. If most guest questions arrive by website chat or Instagram, and the budget is fixed, start with HiJiffy. You can see the price today. If the phone rings all night and many guests write on LINE or WeChat, ask Canary for a quote. It describes phone answering, and HiJiffy's pages I read don't.

In both cases, someone on your team keeps the answers current. If nobody has that hour, the tool you pick matters less than who does the upkeep.

The cheaper tool costs more if nobody keeps its answers current.

What if nobody on your team has time for either?

That's the gap BonsAI Luxury fills. It builds an AI receptionist around one property's facts, on WhatsApp, website chat and email, and fixes weak answers after launch. Builds start from USD 1,500, after a free audit. It's a new company with no published client results yet, and it runs in English and French only. It doesn't do check-in or upsells, and it doesn't book rooms on a call.
